There are a lot of burning questions left unanswered after last week’s NCIS: Los Angeles. After a deadly trip to Mexico at the beginning of the season, circumstances have only gotten worse for the team, especially when they discovered they had made a cartel’s hit list. But besides the life-threatening dangers and ongoing investigations, the biggest cliffhanger surrounds one of the show’s favorite characters: Where in the world is Hetty!?

Agent Callen (Chris O’Donnell) spent a good portion of his working hours this episode trying to find Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt), the operations manager for the team. He can’t seem to get any clear answer from colleagues about her whereabouts, and even Agent Mosley admits she didn’t see Hetty while in Washington. But just before this week’s show came to a close, Callen got a call that made every fan’s heart race.

She used a voice changer, but Callen immediately recognized his superior—though the brief conversation hardy consoled him.

“I need you to forget about me and focus on keeping the team safe,” she said. “I’m afraid things might be getting worse for both of us before they get any better. And I won’t be there to help for quite awhile.”

Though the moment was fleeting, just the mere mention of the beloved character immediately set followers off.

“When will we see Hetty again? I want Hetty back!!” this tweet reads. “I miss Hetty on NCIS LA,” said another. “I hope she will be back soon.”

Her return also reminded some viewers of how much her presence had been lacking this season, and made it clear that they want her back ASAP.

“I love Hetty! If they cut her on screen time any more, I’m going to be really mad!” one said. Another vowed they would “never watch NCIS: Los Angeles again,” if Mosley were to throw her under the bus in the future.

Fortunately, Hetty’s disappearance is likely due to a car accident that the real-life actress, Hunt, was in earlier this year. Monsters and Critics reports that she “is not leaving NCIS,” but that her injury “could explain why she was only a voice participant" so far.

So, will we see her again soon? Will her bosses forgive her for that disastrous Mexico excursion? And will she bring the voice changer?! Here’s hoping for all of the above.
