From slushies to sing-a-longs, villains and victories, it's time to celebrate Glee's 100th episode!
After nearly 600 toe-tapping routines and heartfelt performances, the Fox hit comedy will reach this television milestone on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Although Glee's 100th episode may still be a few months away, creator Ryan Murphy has already extended a very gracious (and very public!) Twitter invitation for the series' musically inclined alumni.
The TV showrunner extraordinaire revealed his offer Tuesday afternoon, writing: "ALL The Glee Originals received invites today to be in our 100th episode! More to follow." And guess what? Some of our favorite original Gleeks have already RSVP'd!
Shortly following Murphy's original tweet, the executive producer revealed that recent Dancing with the Stars champion Amber Riley, is all set to reprise her diva-licious role of Mercedes Jones. We're currently crossing our fingers that Riley will get a chance to highlight some of her new ballroom moves in the special episode.
And joining Mercedes back in the McKinley choir room will be everyone's favorite bad boy: Noah Puckerman! Murphy also announced via twitter that Mark Salling will be returning as well writing, "Mark is IN for the 100th! More great news coming..." No news yet on if Puck will be bringing his trusty mohawk.
UPDATE (Dec. 3): Harry Shum Jr. has officially RSVP'd! Mike the dancing king will return, as Murphy tweeted that "Harry is IN!"
UPDATE (Dec. 4): How is this for a pleasant surprise? Kristin Chenoweth, aka April Rhodes, will reprise her role for Glee's 100th episode, Ryan Murphy confirmed via Twitter.
It's clear that Murphy is trying to cover all his bases by stating that "ALL" of the original Glee actors received an invitation to participate in the 100th episode. Rumors began to swirl of a rift in the cast when Dianna Agron was the only original Glee cast member who did not return for September's emotional Cory Monteith tribute episode.
Since then, sources have said that Agron is still "very much a part of the Glee family," so hopefully this means we'll be seeing the former head cheerio Quinn strutting down the halls once again in March. Our fingers are also crossed that new mama Heather Morris will be able to make an appearance in the episode as Brittany S. Pierce, our favorite blonde with the best one-liners.
So which original Glee character are you most excited to see? (And by "original" we're referring to those who were a member of New Directions at any point in time in season one.) Cast your vote in our poll below and then take to the comments to shout out more of your McKinley High favorites! And as Ryan Murphy updates his Twitter with announcements on who is coming back, we'll be updating this post with castmembers who are confirmed to be returning. So bookmark this page, eh?
