Season 5
With Robin and Barney deciding how serious they want their relationship to be, Lily manages to get them to realize that they love each other. After a large amount of fights, Robin and Barney call it quits and Barney heads to his old ways using the "Playbook" to pick up younger women.
Robin then starts dating Don Frank, her co-anchor on her 4am news program. Episodes later, she thinks about breaking up with Don because she was offered an anchoring job in Chicago. She later declines the offer, but later finds out that Don accepted the same job that she was offered.
Meanwhile, Ted gets into a relationship with a student named Cindy and she reveals that her roommate is Ted's future wife. After their break up, Ted buys a "fix-up" home that he does not want to live in until it is finished. Lily and Marshall find themselves still unsure if they want to have kids, but finally come up with the decision of having kids. Season Five then ends with Lily saying "Put a baby in my belly."
