- Bree's trial finally comes to an end with a surprise confession; Tom takes steps to finalize his divorce.
- "Desperate Housewives" - "Give Me the Blame" - May 13, 2012
In the opening scene, we are informed that Karen McCluskey is on her last legs. She has arranged for hospice care but the girls won't hear of it, saying they will take shifts to take care of her and she overcome with emotion at the outpouring of love since she was never sure how she was perceived and now realizes the women think of her as a friend.
As it has progressed Bree's trial has gotten more sensational, Carlos has wanted to step up to admit his involvment in Alejandro/Ramon's death, and Gaby has begun freaking out even more aware that he will go to prison for life should he come forward.
When it comes time for Ben to testify about the incriminating phone call he had with Bree in which she talked about "putting a body in the ground" he refuses to say anything. The judge tosses him in jail for contempt. In the pokey, he explains partially what happend to Renee about finding a dead body on his construction site and Bree insisting that he bury it without notifing the authorites. Renee, who is still angry about being kept in the dark and that her fiance is in jail, leaves. After her meeting with Ben, the prosecutor corners her and tells her she will deport Ben unless Renee testifes to what she knows.
On the witness stand, Renee recalls the night of the progressive dinner and that at around 3:00 am, she saw Bree return home in muddy clothes with a shovel. The other women get angry with her and she explains the DA was going to have Ben deported and she picked the man she loved over the "friends" who kept her in the dark about what secrets they have.
Bree's lawyer Trip is worried that the jury doesn't believe her now. He says it's time to tell the truth about really happened that night, not only to save her but because he has feelings for her. He kisses her and she immediately tells him it was Carlos who killed Gaby's stepfather after he tried to assault her, but makes him promise not to use the info against her friends. Trip calls Gaby to stand and gets her to admit Alejandro was her stepfather but then Bree fakes a fainting spell to get a recess. She is livid with Trip for going back on his word.
While doing her shift taking care of Mrs. McCluskey Gaby reiterates the whole story to Carlos and says she's going to take the fall for him because, as a victim of sexual abuse the jury will understand her killing him and that even though she's small adrenaline could explain her dragging his body to the woods and burying it. Because it would be Carlos' third strike (which means he will go to prison for life) she can't let him fess up, to the point where she plants a knife in his coat on the way to the courthouse so he will be stopped and she can rush ahead and testify.
Mrs. McCluskey, having overhead Gaby, goes to Trip at the courthouse and demands he put her on the stand because she can testify that Renee was drunk the night of the party and can't be trusted. Instead she gets on the stand and confesses to the murder, introducing the fact that Alejandro had sexually abused Gaby as a child and that when she saw him sniffing around went to Gaby's house where she saw him she grabbed the candlestick and killed him, saying adrenaline allowed her to drag the body to the woods and bury it. The prosecutor drops the charges against Bree and, because of her age and declining health, doesn't charge McCluskey.
All is well on Wisteria Lane with the ladies thanking McCluskey and celebrating with Bree. Renee comes to apologize and is forgiven. But Bree is harder on Trip, saying she can't trust him since she feels he manipulated her into telling him the whole story and then went against her wishes by putting Gaby on the stand.
