- The battle between the Night's Watch and the wildlings has come.
- Jon and Samwell are on duty on top of the Wall. Ygritte wants to be the one who kills Jon Snow. A petrified Gilly returns with her baby to Castle Rock, reporting about the wildling attack at Mole's Town. The Nights Watch prepare for battle. The wildling army attack the wall in the night, with giants riding mammoths. Jon sets out on a dangerous journey to help set things right.—Shuvam Nandi
- The Night's Watch men are ready to defend Castle Black against the Wildlings. Gilly arrives with her baby and Sam hides them in a food store. Jon is assigned to protect the Wall by Ser Allister and he goes down to protect the gate. The battle begins with giants and one mammoth trying to open the outer gate. Meanwhile Ygritte and Tormund fight inside Castle Black. Will Castle Black and the Wall fall to the Wildlings attack?—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- The battle at the wall begins. John Snow has urged his superiors to destroy the tunnel entrance but they refuse. Sam is pleased with the sudden re-appearance of Gilly and her baby and hides them in a storage room knowing that he may not survive the attack. When the battle begins, they are beset on both sides of the wall. From the north, Mance Raydor's army attacks sending men climbing up the wall and others to attempt entry through the tunnel. From the south, they are attacked by the raiding party that includes Ygritte. The battle is deadly, and not many survive. While the Night's Watch survives the first night of battle, John Snow realizes that they will not survive a second and sets off to negotiate with Raydor.—garykmcd
- Mance Raydor's huge army arriving at the wall, Watch commander Alliser Thorne practically admits to Jon he should have listened, but can't 'seem weak', then rushes off with his deputy as the castle is attacked from both sides, leaving Jon to step up in de facto command on the wall. After maester Aemon finds him in the library reading up on Wildlings and winter monsters, Sam insists to join the defense, promising to survive to Gilly whom he smuggled in with the baby against regulations, and is saved by a squire's arrow. An elite suicide squad dies while preventing a single giant passing the inner tunnel gate after a mammoth opened the outer one. As the Thenn part attack from the south must be repelled, Jon moves down and is saved from Ygraine's arrows by squire Olly, then has her romantically dying in his arms, wishing they never left the icy cave of passion. After poring oil and launching the reaper knife at the wall climbers, the Watch carries the day. Jon however realizes they are too badly outnumbered to afford such losses and sets out on a desperate last chance mission: finding and killing Mance, as the decapitated winter army may then disintegrate as before his rise.—KGF Vissers
- The Night's Watch prepares for the Wildling invasion. Jon admits to Sam that he slept with Ygritte while he spent his time with the wild-lings. Sam says that he and Gilly never had sex, as she has just had a baby and that she never offered. Sam argues that their vows talk about talking no wives and not fathering children, but don't prohibit sex specifically. The Wildlings are spying on the Night's watch by Warging into an owl. Styr challenges Ygritte that she still loves Jon Snow, but she announces to the entire pack that she will be the one who kills Jon Snow during the attack
The Night's watch have 105 men at Castle Black, against a 100,000 strong army of the wild-lings. Gilly and Little Sam arrive at Castle Black (she passes the Wildling camp on her way to castle black), where Sam hides them as women are not allowed inside Castle Black. Sam takes Gilly and little Sam to a chamber deep inside the Castle and locks the door from outside. Maester Aemon reveals to Sam that he was Aemon Targaryen in his past life (he was the designated future king), before he came to the wall. He used to love a girl once. Aemon says that facing imminent death is the sweetest time to revisit the memories of the past.
Mance signals the attacks by lighting an entire forest on fire close to the wall. The Night's watch load barrels of oil on the catapults on the wall. Just before the attack Alliser agrees with Jon that they should have sealed the tunnel while they had the chance.
The Wildlings attack from both sides of the wall. Tormund's army gets through from the south and engages the Night's Watch. Ygritte kills many archers guarding the gate with her own accurately aimed arrows. The guards of the Night's watch are poorly trained and are unable to take advantage of their advantageous & fortified positions. Beyond the wall, the wild-ling army hangs back just beyond the range of the archers on the wall. A small platoon led by a giant on a mammoth approaches the wall and is impervious to the arrows shot from the top. Many of the wild-lings reach the wall and start climbing it. JOn knows they wont summit before dawn the next day.
Alliser Thorne goes down the wall to fight in the southern part, leaving Janos Slynt in charge. However, Slynt is incompetent and is tricked into going down the main level by Jon (who tells him that they got word that Brother Thorne needs him at the ground level), effectively leaving Jon in charge. At the Southern end, Tormund and Styr break through the gates and are confronted by Thorne and his men in battle. Slynt finds the battle at the ground level too gruesome and finds the same room to hide, by chance, where Sam had hidden Gilly. Tormund defeats Thorne in battle, but he manages to escape.
Sam decides to get to the top of the wall, to get Jon as there is no leader on the ground level (with Slynt hiding and Thorne injured). Jon comes back down with Sam to take control of the situation inside Castle Black. Jon asks Sam to release his dire-wolf Ghost. After watching Jon kill Styr, Ygritte prepares to kill him but hesitates and is fatally shot by Olly (who is just a little kid who operates the lifts on the wall.).
One giant break through the tunnel leading into Castle Black but is killed by Grenn and five others (who hold the inner gate on Jon's orders), at the cost of their own lives. With the help of Jon's dire-wolf, Ghost, the Night's Watch secure the ground level of Castle Black, leading to Tormund's arrest.
The wall climbers are obliterated by a massive scythe. The Wildlings retreat though Jon predicts their return the very next night (as they were just testing defenses and Mancer has many more mammoths and giants to throw at the Wall). Jon goes beyond the Wall to find and kill Mance Rayder as he reckons if Mancer is dead then the wild-lings wont have a leader and no army.
