- Flashbacks into his past help tell the tale for Dr. Mallard as he and Bishop travel to England in search of answers to find out why an Englishman murdered in the United States would have a list of deceased Navy men on his person.
- Dr. Mallard is shocked to hear the corpse of a man found with files on various navy officers died in dubious accidents is presumed to be that of his English study buddy Angus Clarke, now a hotel chain owner, whom he never spoke since a bitter romantic row, but finds in autopsy it can't be him. Officially on leave, Ducky informally accompanies Bishop investigating in London, where his first true love Maggie is now a fresh widow and explains she regretted not having chosen him over Angus, and finds Angus's professional right hand a dangerous manipulator. Back in the US, the team looks into financially shaky Angus's business partner's dirty dealings.—KGF Vissers
- A man is killed is when someone shoots his car with a rocket launcher. The team goes to investigate because Naval documents were found. When they check out who rented the car, Ducky says he knows the man. But when he does the man's autopsy he discovers the body could not be the man he knows. They also learn the man was on his way to NCIS. Gibbs then sends Bishop to London to find out why the man who was killed had Naval documents with him and why he was going to NCIS. He also asks Ducky to join her. They meet the man's wife who is someone Ducky also knew.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
- In his car on the road, a British man talks to someone on the phone, assuring them he hasnt been followed. But off in the distance, a man in a ski mask sees the car approaching and takes aim with a bazooka. He blasts the Brit.
In the office, Ellie and Tony give Abby the complete rundown on her hot park ranger crush, Burton Moore. Hes from Wisconsin, was in the Peace Corps and likes the hobbits. McGee busts them. They hid it from him because his overprotective big brother routine is getting old.
Gibbs joins them for the body of the week, the car blast in Virginia.
On the scene, NCIS was called because there was a box containing troop deployment orders. The car was rented by Angus Clark. Duckie realizes he knew him Angus was Duckies best friend growing up.
Back at NCIS, Duckie waits outside the morgue. He hasnt seen Angus in ages, but has incredibly fond memories of playing tag with Angus. Hes determined to do the autopsy. Palmer tries to loosen him up with a joke. (What happens when frogs park illegally? They get toad.)
Duckie looks at the x-rays and gets excited. His Angus had his two front teeth knocked out in a fight and had implants and the body on the slab has his original teeth. Duckie is sure hes the one who knocked them out.
Flash back to a very young Duckie in a train station, 30 days away from reporting to basic training for Royal Army Medical Corps. His pal Angus meets him, but Duckie is suspicious when he suggests a stop somewhere on the way to a drink, thinking Angus is planning a surprise party. Angus reveals he knew he couldnt get that past Duckie, so he whistles and all of Duckies friends come out at the station.
Back at the lab, Abby tells Gibbs the bazooka was an AT4 Anti-tank weapon. She also found that NCIS was programmed into the cars GPS and he had dossiers on three naval officers all of whom are dead of natural causes or accidents. Abby gets a hit in the DNA database. Hes Samuel Culpepper, who works for Angus. They were both in town recently but Angus went home three days ago, but he hasnt been heard from since.
Gibbs orders McGee to look into the three deaths. He sends Ellie to England, and then reminds Duckie has all of his unused vacation time.
Duckie remembers the last time he saw Angus when he punched him in the mouth at his own going away party.
In London, theyre met by Angus personal assistant, Gareth Godfrey. He wont let them search Angus office, per his boss standing orders, but Angus estranged wife Maggie Clarke (Alice Krige) intervenes. Ducky knows her.
At Duckies going away party (where everyone knows him as Donnie), Maggie presents Duckie with his going away present: a bowtie. Duckie scoffs, ask if he looks like the type. Angus got him an engraved scalpel. Duckie doesnt expect to need it in obstetrics. He had wanted to be a heart surgeon, but hes had enough of cadavers.
Duckie clearly has the hots for Maggie.
Back in the present, Ellie and Duckie search Angus private office. It has a bed and is clearly where hes been staying. Ellie finds a deleted email to Culpepper on Anguss computer, sent the day he was killed. It has the files of the dead sailors attached. Theyre interrupted by a half-naked woman running out of the bathroom.
Back in DC, Gibbs and Tony track down a businessman named Peter Velo, whos angering a business owner by trying to buy him out of bankruptcy for an equity stake. Velo met with Angus five days ago. They had past business and after Velo moved to the US two months ago he asked Angus to fly out and consider opening a hotel here.
After they tell him about Culpepper, he remembers Angus was really mad at him.
Down in the lab, Abby has found something fishy in each of the three deaths, showing they werent accidents. Checking the forwarded email from Ellie, they find the other two dying under suspicious circumstances and that one is still alive.
Gibbs and McGee find Navy Commander Zachary Bucket out for a jog. Hes skeptical that someone is out to kill him, but when he takes a swig of his water, he starts coughing uncontrollably.
In London, Duckie gets word that Bucket had an allergic reaction to something but is recovering in the hospital. Ellie talked to the half naked woman, who says shes just an employee who was staying in the office and wasnt seeing Angus.
Maggie joins them to look at the photos of sailors. Sensing the chemistry and tension between Maggie and Duckie, Ellie makes an excuse to leave.
Duckie remembers the end of the night of his going away party. He invites her on his trip tomorrow, showing he has two tickets. She says she has something to tell her, but then he confesses he loves her. She asks why he didnt say something sooner. He kisses her and she lets him, until Angus walks in.
Maggie tells Duckie they were going to tell him. Angus is drunk and is insulted. He demands Maggie choose between them, but she runs off. When Angus realizes Duckie is in love with her, he says he doesnt care and Maggie is nothing but a cheap floozy.
Thats when Duckie decks him. Angus tackles him through a table onto the floor.
Back in London, Maggie explains that she ended up with Angus when Duckie left and didnt come back.
Back in NCIS, Tony and McGee explain that in each case, after the sailor died an Albanian-American was assigned to take over their duties. The possibility of that happening by chance are less than 1 in 10,000.
Gibbs gets a call from Ellie police found Angus at the bottom of a river.
Duckie goes to break the news to Maggie and sees that Angus kept his going away present scalpel. Maggie says that, despite 45 years of marriage, they were only meant to be great friends. The last few years they barely spoke to each other. Maggie goes to break the news to Angus staff, but finds Gareth standing outside her door.
Tony talks to Navy Chief Petty Officer Refet Ramadani who is cocky and uncooperative, like the other five replacements.
McGee found that all the Albanians listed the same emergency contact, an Albanian assassin with ties to the Albanian mob. Interpol says hes now living in the UK as Gareth Godfrey.
Hes still free because no one lived to testify against him. He was sent to the UK to smuggle weapons, including the kind that blew up Culpepper. A large amount of them went missing from the Joint Munitions Command, where one of the Albanian replacements runs the department. Theyre operating a smuggling ring after Gareth took out all the sailors.
Gibbs calls Duckie after Palmer mentions that Gareth was Angus assistant. In a room with Gareth and Maggie, Duckie takes the call. When he hangs up, he tries to excuse himself, but Gareth pulls a knife.
Back at NCIS, Gibbs calls Ellie to tell her to get to Duckie ASAP. Tony calls whatever law enforcement he can over there.
Duckie grabs the scalpel but Gareth merely taunts him. When Gareth gets close enough, Duckie slices quickly inside Gareths upper arm. Gareth seems unaffected until he starts to get woozy. Duckie explains he nicks his brachial artery and Gareth will be dead in 90 seconds. As Gareth slumps into a chair, Duckie refuses to help until Gareth explains they were running a prostitution ring out of one of Gareths hotels by threatening to kill Maggie.
Angus had hoped to get word to NCIS, but they found out. Duckie lets Gareth continue to bleed until he reveals who was in charge of the ring.
Back in DC, Gibbs and Tony go to meet Peter Velo. After looking at the chemicals the crew smuggled off a Navy base, they think hes expanding into cooking meth.
Back in London, Duckie is ready to leave town without saying good-bye to Maggie again.
He remembers back to waiting for her at the train station the day after his party, wearing his bowtie. His heart leaps when he sees her arrive, but then crashes when he sees the look on her face. He leaves without talking to her.
Back in London, Maggie tells him she chose the wrong man. When she asks him why he never married, he tells her about Gibbs losing his soul mate and nearly wrecking his life marrying the wrong woman over and over. Duckie chose to skip that part. He reveals that he still has the train tickets from that day. They both enjoy finally being near each other.
