PORTADOWN driver Colin Turkington is remaining with West Surrey Racing for this season’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) where he will head-up a two-car attack for Team BMW

For his 20th campaign in the UK’s premier tin top series – which kicks off in less than four weeks’ time with a triple-header at Donington Park – Turkington is being joined by Adam Morgan.

Turkington embarks on an eighth-straight season with Team BMW as he chases a record-breaking fifth title that would see him surpass Andy Rouse and the defending BTCC champion Ashley Sutton.

He will also be looking to add to the sixty-seven race victories and 181 podiums he has chalked up since be made his debut in the BTCC, at the wheel of BMW’s up-dated 330e M Sport saloon.

Clothed in the famous blue, red and violet M colours, for 2024 it features a raft of changes that are designed to make it more competitive across the 30-race competition, with these including aerodynamic, cooling and chassis upgrades.

“I’m extremely pleased to be a part of Team BMW for the 2024 season and to race the BMW 330e M Sport,” said Turkington, who finished in fourth place at the end of last season’s BTCC campaign.

“This will be my eighteenth year with West Surrey Racing and you could not ask for a better team to be a part of.

“The team have worked incredibly hard over the winter to enhance the performance of our BMWs and I am focused on being the best and most competitive version of myself I can be, so that we can put ourselves in the hunt for podiums and wins right from the season-opener at Donington.”

The man hours Dick Bennetts and his West Surrey Racing Team have invested in the car is set to become clearer when pre-season begins at the 2.969-mile Snetterton track in Norfolk tomorrow.

Team Principal Bennetts believes he has a two of the best talents in Turkington and Morgan, who is back for a second year. “The new season is nearly upon us and it is once again an honour to represent BMW in what is the UK’s leading motor racing championship,” said the New Zealander.

“The target is to add to the sixteen overall championships won by West Surrey Racing in the BTCC and in Colin and Adam I believe we have two first-rate drivers at Team BMW to help us achieve this.

“I say it every year, but the level of competition keeps on increasing, so once again we have to make sure we perform better than ever if we are to achieve our goals this year,” added Bennetts.
