March 2022: Detroit People's Food Co-op

When you round up your PFC purchase to the nearest dollar throughout the month of March, your change supports the Detroit People’s Food Co-op.

The Detroit People’s Food Co-op is an African American led community-owned grocery cooperative start-up. The DPFC, part of a larger food security and food sovereignty project by the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network, has been organizing for over a decade and is getting very, very close to breaking ground in Detroit’s historic North End. The project is 93% of the way to being funded, with a $1.3M gap right now. Our contributions will go toward closing this gap.

Check out the video below to hear from the visionary leader of the Detroit People’s Food Co-op (@DetroitPeoplesFoodCoop on Instagram), Malik Yakini:

After more than a decade of visioning and organizing, Black leaders and community members have broken ground on a cooperatively owned full-service grocery store in the city’s North End.
