67% Tomatometer 6 Reviews 92% Audience Score 100+ Ratings Bored with his success, celebrated mystery novelist Rick Castle teams with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case of a copycat killer who re-creates murder scenes from Rick's novels. While solving the case, the two realize that their unorthodox partnership has its benefits and decide to continue working together. Combining his writer's intuition with her creative detective work, they investigate strange homicides in New York, all the while building a strong, if complicated, relationship with each other. Jess Mccabe Bitch Media The show is ultimately rescued because the writers get self-aware. Jan 7, 2021 Full Review Ginia Bellafante New York Times Despite the whimsical mood, Ms. Katic maintains an egregiously flat and chilly affect, performing as though she has been cast in CSI: Kiev. It is too easy to care not an iota whether they get into bed, let alone eventually wind up registering at Tiffany. Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Zack Handlen AV Club This is a cute piece of work that coasts largely on the charms of its cast (namely Fillion, although there aren't any serious weak spots) and a colorful, cinematic visual style. Rated: B Sep 20, 2010 Full Review Michael Crider Screen Rant Without the light-hearted and even flirty back-and-forth, there's not a whole lot to distinguish Castle from any mystery made in the last twenty years - and in fact, there's not much about it that stands out either. Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Courtney Morrison TV Fanatic Five minutes in and there was already a shoot-out. I had to rewind my DVR several times to take everything in and now that it's over, I'm still in shock. Rated: 4.9/5 Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Jim Garner TV Fanatic Of all the shows I enjoy, Castle has some of the best writing on the air. Rated: 4.3/5 Sep 21, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Al R I deleted it from my watchlist. It was an okay show up until the end of season 2 and a few episodes into season 3. I HATE soap operas and that is what this has become. Too many instances of making each other jealous. Makes the show unbearable!!! Why is it series usually can't make it through the 2nd season before ruining the show? I'm done with it because of the bullshit relationship issues ALWAYS being the gist of the episodes. Unless you're a big soap opera type tease shows fan, don't waste your time! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Michelle T When Castle returns everyone gives him the cold shoulder bc he didn't call them once while he was on vacation. But he helps them solve a case and they let him come back. The 3XK episode was definitely different. Castle was able to figure out who the real 3XK is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Toms c The series continues to hit the mark. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Danil S The third season opened with a bang, and ended with a bang. Apart from that, however, everything that happened in between is mostly a cheap thrill galore. The whole series coast largely on the charms of its cast and the light-heartedness of the premise; which was greatly diminished in this season. There are actually more dramatic, serious episodes in this season as compared to the first two; which I think is good for the cast because they could show off their acting chops. For the audience, however, some might not be so pleased. I, however, is welcoming to the change. On a different note, some loose ends were tied up in this season, while some remained to be seen. This season actually focuses more on the secondary characters in the show as compared to the main ones; which I would say is... Character development? All in all, this is a decent follow-up to the first two seasons, but there is nothing spectacular that is worth mentioning. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/25/22 Full Review jon c More Castle + more Beckett= another season Katic and Fillion are together once more for the shows 3rd outing Last season Beckett was dating another officer and Castle decided to write another book called Naked Heat He decided to go on a book tour and spend time with his daughter and ex-wife in the Hamptons Beckett was taken aback by this not knowing how long he'd be gone no longer being her partner When this season starts a friend of Castle's ends up dead and it's not looking good for him since he was there by the time Beckett and the rest showed up But things are settled back in place with both of them doing what they do best Another development for Beckett's mother shows up: detective Ragley was the one in charge of the case and gives her a vital piece of information At this point it's not about the books anymore for Castle, sure he's written 22 novels but the real world when it comes to blood and bullets is something else Season 3 kinda loses its way towards the end but it keeps to the core of Fillion and Katic The finale has Beckett facing more of a challenge getting closer to the truth about her mother but it tests her loyalty, clouds her judgment, and puts her relationship with Castle on the rocks Unfortunately too it leads to a massive betrayal from inside the department and the death of a dead supporting player This gets much more heavy by the end of the season and I'm glad the actors make it very compelling and the writers become more self-aware of the show's context Season 3 might be a step down in many respects but thankfully I'm still tuned in Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The hunt for Beckett's mother's killers heats up in Season 3 of Castle. After a summer break Castle returns to the 9th precinct to continue catching murders witch Beckett's team and they soon find new evidence about her mother's case; meanwhile Castle's home life gets more complicated as Alexis makes plans to graduate early and move out to attend college. And the supporting characters are developed more as well, as Esposito and Lanie begin a relationship, Ryan proposes to his girlfriend, and a past case comes back to haunt Captain Montgomery. Additionally, the writer's try some new things, including taking Castle and Beckett out of New York ("To Love and Die in L.A."), tackling a series killer case ("3XK") and domestic terrorist ("Setup" & "Countdown"), and ending the season finale on a nail-biting cliffhanger ("Kockout"). Also, the list of guest stars is as impressive as ever; Lance Henrikson, Laura Prepon, Bruce Davison, Adrian Pasdar, Tina Majorino and Jane Seymour. Castle just keeps getting better and better, and Season 3 may be its strongest yet. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
