      Critics Consensus

Lost asks its audience to suspend their disbelief in ways that can be extremely trying for the grounded sci-fi show, but its character-driven plot holds season three together.

Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times On good nights, when mood overrides mythology, you just enjoy the ride. When it doesn't work, Lost can seem like the most tedious show in the world... The new chronological orientation suggested by the season finale may remedy that. Jul 7, 2023 Full Review Mike Duffy Detroit Free Press The quality of Lost remains remarkably high. It's a great roller coaster ride. But the show can be sooo darn confusing. Jul 7, 2023 Full Review Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic There aren't many serious TV fans who would argue that Lost isn't currently the best show on network television. Certainly it's the hardest to follow. Jul 7, 2023 Full Review Tom Gliatto People Magazine I say: Let's stay lost. The first few episodes of season 3 show no weakening of the show's brilliant capacity for springing surprises -- nutty, out-of-the-blue twists -- that feel weirdly probable. Oct 24, 2019 Full Review Seth Freilich Pajiba We've gotten almost nowhere. Old questions remain unanswered, and yet they just keep dumping more and more crap onto our plates. May 29, 2018 Full Review Chris Carabott IGN Movies Everything culminates in what can be described as one of the best season finales in recent memory. Benjamin H Season 3 of Lost is a layered, utterly riveting and impressively detailed season that is filled with intrigue and emotions. The character development is on-point and enthralling (the same with the performances), the complex structure doesn't spiral out of control and is very efficient, and it has a lot of depth and fascinating humanity seeping through its composite plot. Yes, the start of this season is a bit too slow and episode 3x9 is unnecessary. However, what makes me like this season slightly more than the two previous is the fact that it manages to set things up and constantly evolve itself so when the last 5 episodes hit, you are totally in. This season is very ambitious and expressive and that is blended well with the thrills and character drama. Very excited for season 4. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review Peacemaker Brilliant! Very captivating and thoroughly engaging series! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review A Bear O Season 3 does what it needs to do, it entertains. It's fun and has a pretty good plot. Even though it has been several years since the finale episode was released, Charlie's death still hurts. Desmond is still one of, if not my favorite character. This seasons does a lot of good things and sets up season 4 pretty well, but it's also just too long, which has been my main complaint about the last 2 seasons too. I wouldn't say it got really boring, but it's just a lot of filler and I didn't really care for it. Jack was really annoying this season in my opinion, his whole storyline with Juliet was stupid and they never even ended up together, I didn't feel any chemistry between them and I just don't know how he could trust her that quickly. You shouldn't expect a lot from the writing considering it's lost. But it's fun and if you can keep yourself from being too critical (which is hard for me) you will enjoy it. Overall I would say it's about the same as season 2! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/07/23 Full Review Ondej V I can't anymore. Finished the first 3 episodes and quit. The smell of the stupid decisions from the last season is too much on it's own, but they decided to add boredom and more flashbacks into it as well... Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/23 Full Review Avant S pointless. rage quit. watched season recaps to end the show. nothing was missed.
