Revisit Sex and the City’s most fabulous fashion moments as the series is released on Netflix
A TV sensation from its debut in 1998 to its final episode in 2004, Sex and the City continues to hold a special place in our hearts. Few can forget the escapist joy of joining Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her loyal girlfriends, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda (Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon) in glamorous Manhattan, watching the friends navigate adventures – and misadventures – in love and life.
Sex and the City devotees were torn between excitement and trepidation on learning that the era-defining show was set to be revived in the form of a spin-off sequel series, And Just Like That…, which debuted in December 2021.
The reboot follows Carrie and her circle of friends in a new era, with children, marital breakdowns, career pivots and identity crises to navigate; and also introduces a number of new characters, in light of calls for more racial diversity and LGBTQIA+ representation. And Just Like That… was a major streaming success, becoming HBO Max (since rebranded as ‘Max’)’s most-watched series ever at the time of the Season 1 finale.
The original show was a feast of late nineties and early noughties fashion whimsy, with outfits ranging from faultlessly chic, to cute and quirky, to downright bizarre. And with the series debuting on Netflix for the first ever time, what better moment to indulge in a little sartorial nostalgia? Take a look back at some of SATC’s most memorable fashion moments below, from Charlotte’s ladylike aesthetic to Samantha’s va-va-voom glamour.
