"O Brother Where Art Thou" and “The Odyssey” Allusion Handout

Description
The Coen Brothers' "O Brother Where Art Thou?" is a Depression Era reimagining of "The Odyssey", and, it's my favorite way to end our unit on Homer's epic each year. "The Odyssey" is a challenging text (no matter how ya slice it) and watching "O Bro" is both a perfect wrap up and a fun way to celebrate my students' completion of the text. This download is a chart, in corresponding order with the movie scenes, of each allusion made to the epic throughout the film. There are 15 scenes or characters included on the chart, and each has their own bulleted questions to help guide students in their allusion recognition. It's the perfect balance of intentional connections to the standards and a (well-earned) movie day worksheet.
Two versions of the handout (a one page, front & back, Microsoft Word document) are included in your purchase, as well as a complete answer key. All documents in the download are 100% editable.
