Description

Here is a simple game based on the popular game of 'Snakes and Ladders'.

There are 3 colour games, and one black and white game.
** I have updated this download to include an addition 2 games in a different format but with same shapes and arrows theme **

To play (children can play with a partner or by themselves):

You'll need:

a dice

a counter for each player

The child rolls the dice and moves their counter across the game board. They must say each shape as they move across the board, if they forget one, they should stop on that shape and either as a partner or check the answer sheet (the answer sheet contains pictures of the shapes with their name underneath) The aim is for children to quickly name common 3d shapes.

Extend:

To extend this activity, I like to ask children to describe each shape's property as they move across the board as well. This really helps you identify children who are confident with their shape names and properties.

The shapes on this game board include:

cube, cuboid, sphere, cylinder, pyramid, triangular prism and cone.

These shapes are in line with the Year 2 National Curriculum in England.
