Description
This story tells the story of Pandora's box (or jar) and how evil came into the world. It describes how Pandora, the first woman, was created, how Pandora opened the box out of curiosity, and how hope was all that remained. Two slight variations of the myth are also mentioned.
A PDF worksheet, a link to download the worksheet in Google Slides, an optional worksheet with ten multiple-choice questions, an answer key, and a link to download the questions as a Google Form are all included.
There are three extended response questions:
1. How could hope being left in the jar impact humans?
2. Why do you think this myth blames a woman (and the first woman at that!) for bringing evil into the world? Why not a man or god?
3. If you were in Pandora's position and had no idea what was in the box/jar, could you resist the temptation to look inside of it? Why or why not?
Short extended response answers can vary, so there is not an answer key for those.
