Description

If you are needing a quick and easy resource for you students to practice creating and interpreting line plots, this is for you. There are two options included for you depending on your student's needs and time limits. The simple option is students will count the number of lines of symmetry in shapes to create a line plot and answer questions interpreting the data. Option 2 is where students draw the lines of symmetry within the shapes, count the number of lines of symmetry to create a line plot, and then answer questions to interpret the data.

Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.
