Marco Polo CSI: Did Polo Go To China?

The thing that makes a historian’s job so fascinating are those murky events that have morphed into legend and myth over many centuries. One of the most enduring mysteries is that of Marco Polo and his fantastic journey to Cathay (China) in the late 1200s. In this activity students not only come to understand the process by which historians use to uncover the truth. More importantly they will learn that the study of history is filled with contradictions and partial truths that must be examined and interpreted.
