What educators are saying

This was an engaging way to learn about numbers and practice skills we had been working on. I used this resource with my summer school students who needed more support in math.

Description

Number Strings is the same concept as multiple addends (Operations of Algebraic Thinking). In number strings, however, students are asked to consider three strategies when making connections; ways to make 10, doubles facts, and near doubles. When students are aware of these strategies, they will become much more efficient and precise mathematicians! This activity will cause them to reflect on which number strategy would work best. Once they have decided how they will solve each problem, they need to state which strategy they have used.
Number Strings comes with three Cue Cards that detail each important strategy as well as 3 practice level worksheets and one assessment worksheet.

If you need a fun way to practice number strings, check out my "Super Simon Strikes Again".
