Now this is why I review books.

The only thing in computer that remains constant is the fact that nothing remains constant. Novell's latest NetWare 5 is the perfect example. The changes for this operating system show how everyone is getting smarter and passing the certification exams get harder. Where do you turn for help?John Paul Mueller has put together a book that is called All-In-One and the name says it all. This book covers the Netware 5 CNA and CNE objectives with clarity, detail and subject knowledge like no other book on the market today. In over 850 pages you'll also get information on Netware 3 and Netware 4 test objectives. Mueller makes easy work of passing and you'll find more information packed into the pages, giving one of the most complete editions going today.Included is a cd-rom with study questions and fun test that I really enjoyed. Also there is "jeopardy" style game without Alex, this makes the learning process easier and more books should be using this method of training. For those needing to pass and those interested in the subject this is your book.

An excellent book for novices like me!

I picked this book up as a complete novice. All I knew was that the technicians in my deparatment were earning a lot more money than me and I wanted to get in on it. I had tried another book, but it was way too complex, so I picked up this book thinking it would be more of the same. Was I ever surprised. This one explains networking in terms that the average person can underderstand. This is also the only book that talks to the CNA as well as the CNE. I have no desired to become a CNE right now, but I feel this book will be equally helpful if I decide to become a CNE later. The first part of the book was the most helpful when I got started because it provided useful tips on where to get funding and how to build a case for certification with my company. I also found the book helpful after I got my certification because it helped me figure out what to do next. The hand's on tutorials were the most useful part of the study section of the book for me. Once I got finished with the hands on tutorials, all I needed was a little practice to pass the exam (something the author suggests that you do). The questions were helpful, but didn't really reflect what Novell asked me on the test. I felt they helped me prepare for the exam, but I would have preferred questions that looked like the questions on the exam. The games are fun, but not very useful. The sections on what to do for further study were very good, but didn't go far enough. I got lost a few times. Hopefully the author will make this section longer the next time.

Very Helpful!

I don't like exam guides that pretend to give you all of the answers because they normally give me a false feeling of security that always disappoints on test day. I found this book didn't give me that false sense of security. Instead, it provided me with exercises that helped me actually learn the material that I needed to know in order to pass the exam. The result? Not only did I pass the exam with flying colors, but I feel that I really know the material now. That's what really counts. The highlight of the book for me was the hands-on exercises. I showed them to a friend who said they were similar to those provided in the course. So, I figure that I saved a lot by buying this book. The questions and fun test were very helpful as well. However, as the author pointed out, they weren't the same questions that I received during the test. All that they were designed to do is help me think through the kinds of questions that I might see on the exam. The puzzles and games were a bit weak, but fun. I don't feel I learned everything that I could have from them if the author had made them a little more focussed. Still, I learned something from them and in a different way from other parts of the book.I also learned quite a bit from the first part of the book. For example, I used the information to get a raise out of my boss after I completed my CNE. The raise alone was worth the purchase price of the book.John was also very helpful when I contacted him via email. He has a great deal more knowledge than appears in the book. The only dissappointment with author support was his Web site, which is a joke right now. Still you can't judge the book by the author's Web site, which is why I gave this book five stars.
