What an emotional day for Person of Interest fans. Following the big sigh of relief from CBS finally announcing the Season 5 premiere date for Person of Interest came news that CBS would be airing two episodes of Person of Interest a week starting in May, a sure sign that CBS was wiping its hands free of the Jonathan Nolan series. But CBS made it clear in its press release that the June 21 finale was the Season 5 finale, not the series finale, and that kept hope alive for another day.

Well, hope has been shredded up like one of Bear's chew toys. Speaking with IGN, creators and showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman broke our hearts by confirming that Season 5 would be the final season and that Person of Interest has been canceled.

"We're extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans," they said in a joint statement, going on to thank everyone for their support, as well as the cast and crew for making "this subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller."

Sarah Shahi is Nancy Drew in CBS' series Drew.

The good news is that Season 5 was written with the possibility that it would be the final season, meaning there will be no unresolved cliffhangers when it shuts off for good.
