He was revived by doctors and some of the officials helped him to his feet and then assisted him to the finish line. John Hayes of the United States was the second finisher. Pietri had been declared the winner, but the Americans lodged a protest that was finally upheld. Dorando was nevertheless presented with a special cup by Queen Alexandra for his 'pluck'. British and Colonial Films was a British company making mostly silent films in London 1908 -1924. Later in 1908 The British and Colonial Kinematograph Company was formed in 1908 by Albert Henry ('Bert') Bloomfield (c.1882–1933) & John Benjamin ('Mac') McDowell (1878–1954). Operating from a rented basement in central London, they used only one camera and developed the negatives in McDowell's house. Later they moved to their own studio at Newstead House ,East Finchley, London.
